Abstract

Over the past ten years, Chinese enterprises have become increasingly internationalized and the number of enterprises "going global" has witnessed a dramatic surge. Proceeding from the features of enterprises and the dynamics of the international market, China should shift its strategic focus from large-enterprises-led overseas investment to SMEs’“going global". The extent to which SMEs go international is an important indicator of how much Chinese enterprises and the Chinese economy as a whole have integrated into the global market. When SMEs go global and decide on the entry mode, specific industry and region to enter, they need to bring into full play their unique advantages and formulate a proactive and prudent development strategy. Other players, including the government and relevant social sectors, should offer more concern and support to the internationalization strategy of SMEs and take effective measures to
facilitate their efforts.
