Abstract

The principle of totality is the fundamental approach of Marx in the investigation of and reflection about human society and its development, as well as the basic method for understanding scientific socialism and its history. The application of such principle in examining human society and its history must stick to the organic unity of "time", "structure", and "space", while in the meantime reject the "disjunctional", "fragmental", and "particular" "reading" of human society and its history, which is the precondition for the scientific interpretation of the general law and concrete route of human historical development, as well as for the correct understanding of the objective transformation from capitalism to socialism in world history.
