Centering on the re-understanding of socialism，this paper summarizes CCP's two innovative theories in the reform and opening up and elaborates on the relationship between the theory of primary stage of socialism and the theory of socialism with Chinese characteristics. Through differentiating and analyzing relevant concepts and ideas which have emerged during the development and innovation of Chinese economic theories,this paper clarifies many theoretical disputes concerning the understanding of socialism with Chinese characteristics, discusses the meaning of different theoretical categories，analyzes the historical inheritance and innovation in the economic theory of socialism with Chinese characteristics, and distinguishes the productivity as a standard and productivity as an end. This paper also explicates the basic standpoint and the direction of
theoretical innovation in the socialist economy reform with regards to the important practical issues of improving socialist relations of production, developing economy of public ownership, promoting distributive justice，
and transforming the mode of economic development, etc.
